Requirements

The Learning Abilities Books Award is given to family friendly web sites which help children develop their educational potential. Sites which are mainly for children are not included. Sites may be created by teachers, parents, homeschoolers, school psychologists, counselors, nurses, social workers, and others.

If you prefer to exchange links without the award, see details at add your educational link.

Web site editors need to do the following.

  1. Have more than just excellent links to other sites.
  2. Have content created by you which helps children develop their educational potential.
  3. More is needed than just items for sale regardless of the quality of the items although your site may be mainly for selling items.
  4. Have content about pre-k through 5th grade regular or special education.
  5. Focus on abilities more than disabilities.
  6. Target information to parents, teachers, and other educators although some material which is directly for children is welcome.
  7. Check for accuracy of your information.
  8. Have links which work.
  9. Give credit to the creators of the graphics and the text. Remember that free information and graphics are copyrighted even if graphics are part of a site building program. Usually, all you need to do is ask permission and make a link to the creator's site or provide other contact information.
  10. Be easy to navigate with clearly marked areas.
  11. Include the site owner's name and email address. School sites include grade, school name, city, and state (country if not USA).
  12. Have only family friendly material including the links from your site and web ring members.
  13. Observe rules of grammar, spelling, etc. in the content you write for the site.
  14. Teach students to polish their writing before publishing on the webite. This includes the mechanics of their writing such as correct grammar and spelling.

If you prefer to exchange links without the award, see details at add your educational link.
